Check back for details as they become available.

2008 Vacation
Bible School
June 2–6, 6:00–8:30 pm
Middlebrook Pike UMC hosted a week long Beach
Party. There was a lot of excitement and 125
children. The children arrived to find Sandy the
surfer giving the basics of surfing so the children
could ride the wave of God’s love. As the children
surfed through crafts, snacks, drama, games and
music, the volunteers (53) taught the “Beach
Be-Attitudes.” The children studied the Call of
Gideon – Be Obedient, David’s kindness to
Mephibosheth - Be Kind, a woman healed – Be Bold,
and Jesus and Thomas – Believe. The Grand Finale was
filled with children sharing with their parents and
friends what they had learned through music. A slide
show and ice-cream ended the Beach Party.
The children of Yei, Sudan will welcome the money
that the children collected over the week as their
mission focus. It will be used to help educate the
children. The supplies that the children did not use
at VBS will be given to the Alaska Mission Trip Team
to be used for the VBS in Alaska.
Memories of the Beach Party will be remembered by
many. In reflecting over the week, I recalled some
of the sayings from children: “I saw Jesus … I think
it was really Pastor Wil.” “I have a new friend; her
name is Sophia.” “This snack is good”! “That’s a lot
of money for those kids.” “I have waited all year
for VBS.”
Thanks to all who had a hand in bringing “our”
children closer to God. Whether it was serving
during the week, preparing materials, decorating,
bringing your children, and/or prayers, all is
needed to complete a wonderful week.
