Sometimes we don't want to think about it, and we almost never want to talk about it, but we all know it's true. It takes money to do the things we want to do as a church. And the only source of income MPUMC has it what you graciously give. We thank everyone that contributes to the financial stability of our church, its ministries, and its missions. MPUMC wouldn't be what it is and couldn't do what it does without you.

This web page is dedicated to letting you know how we are doing financially as well as where your hard earned—and thoughtfully given—money goes each year. Each year, our committee chairpersons and ministry leaders submit their budget requests to the Finance Committee. The Finance Committee then prepares an annual budget that honors those requests to the maximum degree possible considering the annual pledges you, the congregation, have made with slight adjustments to account for historic unpledged giving amounts. The CLC considers, adjusts, and approves the budget.

For 2010, the annual operating budget for the church is $1,035,981. That budget has been allocated to the various ministries and church/staff expenses as shown in the graph below. Click on the pie slices to get more information about each category (you may need to allow pop-ups!).

Based on your response to the Enough stewardship campaign conducted in October-November 2009, the Finance Committee has set the 2010 budget at $1,035,981.

The blue line on the graph below shows what we must collect on a cumulative basis to meet the $1,035,981 budget. This is based on our historical collection profile, which dips through the summer months and finishes strong in December. The red line on the graph shows how our actual giving compares to this historical giving curve.

In late 2007, we launched a three-year giving campaign dedicated to helping the church achieve several critical goals that are outside of the annual church ministries budget (i.e., paying down the debt we incurred to build the Family Life Center, increasing our parking space, renovating the nurseries). These actions are critical to keeping MPUMC financially stable while encouraging growth and outreach to our neighbors and community.

The campaign garnered pledges of nearly $807,000 to be donated in years 2008, 2009, and 2010. Contributions received through 2009 were nearly $577,000. Our progress in meeting our pledge is shown in the graph below.
