THANK YOU!!
I want to publicly express my thanks to our
Early Risers and Chancel Choirs for the
inspirational music they brought to us last
Sunday morning. They have been an absolute joy
to work with and have responded in a marvelous
way to a new director with a lot of crazy ideas
about choral singing. Rarely have I had choirs
sing with the energy and attention to detail
that they did on the cantata. It was also a joy
for me to work with our instrumentalists, all of
whom are wonderful musicians who enjoy praising
God with their music. I have known them all for
many years and am always happy to be able to
invite them to play on special occasions.
I could not write this thank you without
mentioning our organist/pianist/ accompanist
Sabra Buchheit. I have worked with many
excellent accompanists in my life. Sabra ranks
right up there with the very best of them. Her
musical skills are wonderful, but she brings far
more than music to her work. Her dedication to
the church and the music program are
outstanding. Surely we are blessed and no one
recognizes that more than I.
It was a joy as well to see the choir loft
full of singers, and to experience the wonderful
sound they made. Both choirs are growing and yet
there is room. There must be others in the
congregation who would enjoy the experience of
singing in the choirs, either or both of them.
We welcome any who would like to use your
talents, however great or small, in this way.
The only requirements are a voice and a
willingness to commit an hour or so each week to
practice. You may not know a lot about music,
but you can learn. We have had several folks
join our ranks in recent weeks and would love to
have more.
In the new year we will assume responsibility
for the Revelation Singers and the Brass Voices
handbell choir and look forward to working with
those groups. In addition I will be available to
assist in any way I can with the musical needs
of the church. Please feel free to let me know
if I can help.
In closing this little article I want to
thank all of you for the warm and gracious
welcome you have given to us since we have been
with you. We thank you for all the concern shown
during Carol's recent surgery and are happy to
report that everything is ahead of schedule for
her recovery. Wishing all of you a blessed
Christmas season and new year.
Sonny
