Youth Fellowship
We have two United Methodist Youth Fellowship (UMYF) groups—one for Middle School and one for Senior High youth.
Youth-Led Worship Services
Our youth take charge of Sunday morning services one or more times a year to put the younger generation's signature on MPUMC's approach to worship.
Sunday Night Programs
Our youth group generally gathers for fun and fellowship on Sunday evenings. A snack supper often leads Bible study, Youth Choir practice, and an open gym and game room.
Wednesday Night Youth Connection
Following the Wednesday Night Connection dinner (which is for all age groups), the youth usually meet for various activities including handbells practice, youth group activities, and/or an open gym and game room.
Youth Missions
The youth typically undertake a number of projects throughout the year. Historically, these have included:
- Helping at the Wesley House Christmas party
- Working with Volunteers of America
- Participating in the Hiwassee Workfest
- Summer mission trips
- Helping with the FISH food pantry
Youth Sunday School
Meets at 9:45 a.m. every Sunday morning to engage in worship and fellowship.
Cub Scouts
Be part of a Scout-focused, active Pack that loves to have fun including spelunking, camping, hiking, fishing, shooting, climbing trees, searching for Indian artifacts, campfire skits, roasting marshmallows, and much much more! These activities and our weekly meetings are used to achieve the aims of Scouting: citizenship training, character development, and personal fitness. Come join Pack 146 which meets Tuesdays from 6:30–7:30 at MPUMC.
Boy Scouts
If you want to be "physically strong, mentally awake, and morally straight," be prepared and pledge to become a Boy Scout. Join Troop 146 which meets from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Monday evenings at MPUMC. Troop 146 typically plans monthly or bi-monthly outings in addition to our regular meetings—ski trips, rafting, rock climbing, overnight sleep-ins, and much more. The Troop also participates in Toqua district camporees in the spring and fall and a week-long summer camp session at a varity of Boy Scout locations.
God Squad Youth Drama Team
Feeling dramatic? Let it out with MPUMC's new youth drama team.
College Connection
This program helps our youth who have gone off to college stay connected to MPUMC.
Open Gym
Stay tuned to the Messenger for times when the gym is open for "unstructured" use. Come by and play some basketball and meet up with some fellow Christians in a safe environment.
